Since 2000, best practices in sustainable community development have been celebrated each year with the FCM Sustainable Community Awards. The Awards are open to all municipal governments and their private-sector partners.

FCM’s Green Municipal Fund is the primary sponsor of the Sustainable Community Awards. CH2M HILL is also a key sponsor, and the Affordability and Choice Today (ACT) program sponsors the residential development category. Awards are presented in eight categories: brownfields, buildings, energy, planning, residential development, transportation, waste and water.

The 2010 Sustainable Community Award Winners were announced at a special event on Saturday, May 29, as part of FCM’s 73rd Annual Conference and Municipal Trade Show at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto.
