Growing the Green Economy: Developing Eco-Industrial Parks in Your Community
Speakers:
Session Description:
Almost every municipality in Canada is home to a brownfield site.
Though usually contaminated, the sites are hallmarks of a community’s industrial heritage and can be key factors in future growth and development. By sustainably remediating and redeveloping these sites while retaining their industrial designation, communities can achieve significant economic, social and environmental benefits.
This webinar will feature an overview of eco-industrial parks, a series of case studies, and an introduction to Delta, B.C.’s Saving Our Industrial Lands (SOIL) initiative. SOIL is bringing multiple stakeholders together in a unique effort to redevelop an historic riverfront industrial area, maintain industrial jobs in the community, and showcase sustainability practices.
